Diveboard mobile on Android

by Ksso on January 26, 2012

I'm super happy to announce the release of the Diveboard mobile app on the Android Market. This initial release lets you access your logbook and will cache the data on your android phone so you can share your scuba love even while offline. In order to save bandwidth only dives you have accessed once will be cached, and of course should you update them a simple pull will refresh them.Next in line is the iPhone app (awaiting Apple's approval)

Diveboard feature updates: dive numbers, nicer print to pdf

by Ksso on January 20, 2012

You've been requesting that for some time (especially nitroxxed who also dared discuss my personal mad designing skills :-) ). So we added today two feature requests to Diveboard :

Dive numbering : You can now number your dives. This sounded obvious but we felt it wasn't necessary. Apparently the Diveboarders made it clear otherwise. You can now number your dives from either the dive manager or each single dive. To make the process easy we added an "auto-magic" button to automatically guess your dive numbers. When you change a dive number in the dive manager all subsequent dives will be renumbered automatically. This won't check for duplicates though, so I advise you always do this on the...

Paris scuba show 2012 - "salon de la plongée"

by Ksso on January 13, 2012

The Diveboard crew spent the day at the "Salon de la plongée" - aka Paris scuba show. The show felt bigger and more dense than last year's edition - and spans over 4 days vs 3 last year. Loads and loads of travel agencies and dive clubs presenting their dream destinations and dive packages. I had a terrible crush on the "Azores" as a destination - and just realized no-one has logged a dive there yet ! Wild island in the middle of the Atlantic, big mantas, whales and sharks... Calling out for a fish-eye lens for my camera. Good to see Alban (my ice diving instructor) ruling on a beautiful booth of both his venues the Tignes Ice diving school and the Quercy cave school . Thumbs up for...

Diveboard feature updates: navigation, pictures, bulk

by Ksso on January 09, 2012

It's been a while since the last update, and that's because we've been cooking a really big one for you divebaorders.Firsty we heard a few pending issues such as:

sometimes imported data showed seconds as minutes

there was no confirmation message when bulk assigning data to dives

after a bulk action dives where de-selected

and many other little quirks like that...

Those reporting the issues will be happy to see they have all been fixed in this release ! Now this would be no fun if we didn't have a few late christmas presents in this release too!A new navigation menu !We used to have 2 levels of navigation menu, which did not make a lot of sense, we've now cleaned this through one single...

Ice diving : what it's all about

by Ksso on January 08, 2012

All our favorite dive magazines (US and UK) went all out about ice diving in their december and january issues.Ice diving looked both spectacular and extreme to me, as a fairly "recent" diver ( with about 50 dives logged). After a bit of googling, I found out 2 weeks ago  that there is actually an awesome ice diving school in Tignes (French Alps, France). On top of that we have a family time shared über-small studio in Tignes... that nobody was using... this was a sign ! So I hopped into my car and drove there to attend the 3-day training course to become a certified PADI ice-diver graduating from the Alban Michon's Tignes Ice Diving School.  I've always been a warm sea diver - the...
